Welcome to my blog

My first lines in my page I would like to dedicate to my new friend (new but it seems that I know him for a while), Sinan Kolat, that introduced me to his blog and to his bunch of ideas. After reading some of his texts I would say that he persuaded me with his writing to create my own blog and also to share my thoughts and experience through the internet and join him in the same quest (you will understand the quest that I meant after reading some of his posts).

Writing is probably not one of my main skills, but I have accepted the challenge to carry out with my new blog, mainly because I was always known by my friends and other people as a guy full of opinions and ideas about almost everything and I frequently express them as soon as an opportunity appears. Sometimes in a wrong moment or to a wrong audience, such as, to mention a very stupid example, saying that I hate Big Brother to people that love the thing and could talk about what was going on in that house for hours. Of course, it has just made me unpopular because most of the people just love to watch that thing and for them it is a very important part of the day. As consequence of that, I decided to stay quiet and instead of criticising the BB and other rubbish, and I started to see the bright side of the BB, if any. Ah! Of course there is! What about the “shape” of all those women inside that super cool house?! I turned off the TV as soon they started to talk again. It is impossible for me to watch that for more than two minutes.

I won’t deny that I made wrong points several times and after some more reflection I just realized that I was defending and trying to persuade people of very bad and unmade theories. I think that here comes the blog and the internet idea: an extremely democratic (so please, you can criticise me already for hating the BB on my blog, it is about time to make me unpopular globally as well) and the adequate place to express your mind about anything. I hate to watch what is going on in the world and on my surrounding and stay quiet, but also I dislike making a wrong point and speaking rubbish. The blog can help me delivery the messages I have with some more reflection than in a day-by-day chat, when you are normally misunderstood, because of some poor communication of an unmade quick thought or because part of your audience just want to receive the message according to their interests.

In this blog I will focus my writing on my passions: football, sports (funny to separate both things, but that is the way I see and most of the media and the people in Latin America and Europe also do. There is football and then there are the other sports), travelling, music, films, clubbing, food and drink. I intend also to make some room in this page for some political views and detonate the politics in Brazil and around the globe.

In my debut text, I would like to dedicate to Turkey also, where I spent, or even better, where I invested two fabulous weeks and where I met great people. A special place in earth, full of history, wisdom and…good football!

When I arrived in Turkey I had in mind that I could not leave the country without going to a stadium to watch a football match. The passion of the Turkish for football and probably in everything they do is amazing and contagious.

I won’t lie to Sinan, who is a “mental” Galatasary fan and who got really upset when I bought the biggest rival jersey, that I wanted to go to a Fernerbahce match to watch that entire Brazilian legion that plays there, especially Roberto Carlos and Alex, but the time and the date of the match conflicted to my plans to visit Istanbul and I went to see the Beşiktaş in a Thursday evening against an Ukrainian team, which football was not very good for the eyes and a test for my patience. However, I wasn’t there to see the Ukrainian football skills, but the Turkish fans in their stadium: chanting, cheering and jumping during the entire match. In addition to that great stadium atmosphere, I also saw a quite organized football structure and a very attractive championship that have good players from all the world and of the calibre of R. Carlos (I know he is old already, but he is definitely one of the best full backs in the football history) and Alex. Perfect combination for a football fan: an attractive local league, good players and passionate fans. Which league in the world has that? Of course the English, the Spanish, the Italian and the German leagues have much more money, therefore much more quality players, but I ask you: Can they buy the Turkish fans? The other European countries have probably the best players, but they do not have the same heat and the same passion that comes from the Turkish stadium seats, by the way the do not need seats, it was a waste of money! If there were the fans world cup, the Turkish fans would win it easily, in a final against Argentina.

Brazil and Turkey, in my opinion, have a very similar economy level; therefore, in theory, we could pay our players the same wages? So, why the football in Brazil is in the garbage?! Why our stadiums are empty? Why do we have to subscribe cable TVs to watch our players delighting the European fans in their stadiums? Can I try some answers?: a) because the disorganization and corruption in the Brazilian football do not allow to keep our stars in our league. The clubs are in an eternal financial crisis and the managers and the player agents surrounding them are with the pocket full of gold; b) the South American football confederation is also a completely disaster, c) the passionate crowd is also in love for violence, which is originated on the sea of ignorance spread throughout the country due to the worst public educational system in the globe. The real football lovers disappeared from the stadiums!

I can mention the entire alphabet here for reasons, but there was one that really shocked me: A Turkish woman, completely in love for her Fernerbahce asked me if in Brazil Roberto Carlos is loved as he is in Turkey, I answered sadly: no! The good man has played three world cups, two finals and in one of them brought to Brazil the title, playing an outstanding football, but he is not respected in Brazil as he is in Turkey. We just remember his bad moments in the last world cup edition. So, I ask you: do we deserve to see these players in our league since most of our fans do not respect them as they should be? The answer is probably no. The respect and the affection of the Europeans for the Brazilian talented football players have also made them stay far from our pitches.

Turkey has taught me lots of other things, the way they enjoy football was one of them. I will dedicate another post in the blog soon for the great time I had there and tell other things that are worthwhile to mention about this fascinating country.
